Meet Our 2025 HMCs!
What does it mean to be a HOBY MO Champion?
HOBY MO Champions are young alumni who exemplify dedication, tenacity and commitment to upholding HOBY values. This exclusive program builds on their HOBY journey with the goal of nurturing and elevating emerging leaders. HMCs develop their own personal leadership skills and make an indelible mark on their communities by representing HOBY Missouri at their schools and in their hometowns.
What are HMCs required to do?
HMCs are expected to complete the following during each year of HMC participation:
-
-
- re-apply every year,
- participate in a 2-night (overnight) HMC training,
- serve as a Junior Staff member at the annual Leadership Seminar,
- maintain at least a 3.0 GPA (if applicable),
- complete 100 hours of community service and log those hours in HOBYs Leadership for Service website,
- make every effort to ensure that your Missouri high school sends at least 1 student to the Leadership Seminar,
- complete two events or activities for each of the 3 HMC program goals: 1) Personal Leadership, 2) Support HOBY MO, 3) Have some Fun!,
- make an annual payment of $300 (this offsets the cost of lodging and meals for the HMC Training and Leadership Seminar (the Leadership Seminar “Staff Fee”).
- Selected candidates can pay this fee directly, find a sponsor to underwrite the fee or fundraise on your own (here are some great fundraising ideas!).
-
What are the three HMC program goals?
The three HMC program goals are: 1) participate in Personal Leadership activities, 2) support HOBY Missouri and 3) have some FUN! HMCs are expected to complete at least two activities in each of the three goals. Rest assured, the HOBY Missouri team will help all of our HMCs along the way!
